Удаление статтей дата публикации которых окончена - PHP

Подскажите, пожалуйста, почему не работает код. Нужно удалять статти, дата публикации которых закончелась. Написал такой скрипт

$now - переменная то нигде не объявлена... и не понятно какое в ней значение.

Попробуйте $now заменить на date('Y-m-d H:i:s')
